The plant has been linked to hormone levels, with studies showing it gives men ‘man boobs’ and calms down postmenopausal symptoms by boosting estrogen metabolism. 

 
And now new research by experts at the University of Illinois at Chicago has shown that hops could activate chemicals that prevent tumors from developing. 

 
Scientists applied hops extract to two different breast cell lines to see the effect on the cells’ estrogen metabolism. 

 
Slower oestrogen metabolism has been proven to increase the risk of breast cancer.

Hops have been linked to hormone levels

The researchers found an ingredient in hops - 6-prenylnarigenin - increased the rate of oestrogen metabolism. 

Lead researcher Professor Judy Bolton told Mail Online: “We need to further explore this possibility, but our results suggest that 6-PN could have anti-cancer effects.” 

The compound 6-PN is a potent phytoestrogen found in hops. 
When it’s ingested it brings to oestrogen receptors and then fuels the hormones’ activity.

In previous reports, the estrogenic activity of 6-PN is so high female hop workers have had disruptions in their menstrual cycles. 

The flower has also become a popular treatment for postmenopausal women who suffer hot flushes, night sweating and insomnia as a result of dramatically slowed oestrogen activity.

Professor Bolton and her team found hops would be particularly effective to ward off breast cancer in women undergoing hormone replacement treatment during menopause. 

According to Professor Bolton’s findings hops also contain a similar compound called 8-prenylnarigenin (8-PN), but this is left effective team 6-PN. 

Every year nearly 60,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer.

62% OF US WOMEN GO BARE DOWN THERE BUT FOR THE WRONG REASONS

“Grooming” is the act of shaving/waxing off pubic hair, and ladies, we know all about it. We’ve been shearing our pubes since we can remember. Some of us like to take a little off, leaving the popular “landing strip,” while most of us like to go fully bare. No matter which way you go, I think it’s safe to say that most, if not all women, hate to have a full fro in between their legs.

I know personally, big or small, I can’t deal with a lot of hair down there. The less hair, the more manageable it is. And don’t get me started on this heat. It’s one thing to sweat, but when your hoo-ha is covered in sweaty hair, that just not hygienic. But some women have another reason for going bare down there.

A new study that was conducted of 3,316 women reports that 62% of the women admit to shaving off all of their pubic hair while 84% admits to some grooming. And while, in the past, research showed that women groom themselves for sex, this study shows that women do it for hygiene.

But that’s not all…

Obstetrician gynecologist and lead author of the study Dr. Tami S. Rowen explains, “Many women think they are dirty and unclean if they haven’t groomed.”

The study looked at women of different races and ages: those who were more prone to grooming were 18 to 34-year-old white women who were well educated. The study didn’t report on their income or marital statuses, but a larger study delved into motivation, sexual behavior and health habits.

There is a horrific report coming out of Japan that details the price Ikki Kotsugai must pay for cutting off the penis of his wife’s lover. Filipino women have smallest breasts, study says.

Filipino women were found to have the smallest breast mean size in the world, according to a recent study published in the Journal of Female Health Sciences. Citing the said study, a report by Telegraph UK said the researchers analysed the breast size data of about 400,000 women born in 108 countries, and compared the mean volume and cup size of women. “The study found major differences in the breast size of women born in different countries, with US women found to have a significantly larger mean breast volume than women from other nations, while Filipino women were found to have the smallest,” the report said. Women from the United States, Canada, Ireland, Poland and UK were found to have the biggest breast size in the world, while Malaysia, Bangladesh, Samoa, and Solomon Islands join the Philippines in the bottom.

Teen Girl Who Allegedly Had Sex With Multiple Partners in School Bathroom Was Once Human Trafficking Victim, Mother Says

The news was shocking: A 15-year-old Florida girl allegedly had sex with multiple partners in a high school bathroom earlier this month, sparking an investigation by police and hundreds of news stories. 

But advocates for the girl have come forward with a troubling explanation – that the girl had previously been a victim of human trafficking.

As news of the incident became international news, the girl's mother contacted NBC 2 to share the girl's alleged tragic history.

According to the mother, the girl had run away from home when she was 13 and was held captive for nearly 2 years. The mother rescued her daughter with help from Megan Estrem, the founder of Be the Light, an advocacy group for victims of sex slavery.

After her rescue, the girl has been placed in several treatment centers. She had only been a student at South Fort Myers High School for two weeks.

The Disturbing Incident

According to the girl's mother, she had gone to the bathroom to meet up with a boy she liked. He wanted to have sex, so she complied. Then, according to Estrem, word got out and more boys showed up in the bathroom.

But although the girl had multiple partners, her family wants to make it clear that the news stories were overblown. "She did not sleep with 25 boys in the bathroom," Estrem told the news station. "There was only a handful that she did sleep with. In this case, it was more of a spectator sport."

The girl has been pulled from school. According to the school district, 16 other students – many of them student athletes – have been disciplined.

If what women say is true, this list would be filled with Jonah Hills, John C. Reillys, Louis CKs and Zach Galifinakises. Not that there’s a thing wrong with being attracted to super attractive guys like Channing Tatum. But just own it, the way men do. Doctors perform first U.S. penis transplant

BOSTON — Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital performed the first U.S. penis transplant, they said Monday, calling it a “landmark procedure.”

Thomas Manning, 64, is recovering well after the 15-hour procedure performed by a team of over 50 surgeons, doctors and nurses, this month, according to the hospital. Manning, of Halifax, Massachusetts, had his penis amputated after he was diagnosed with penile cancer in 2012.

The procedure, also described by the doctors as a “surgical milestone,” is called a gentitourinary vascularized composite allograft, or GUVCA.

It involves “surgically grafting the complex microscopic vascular and neural structures of a donor organ onto the comparable structures of the recipient.”

The 7 habits of highly self-destructive people

The difference between who we are and who we want to be is our habits. That instagram scrolling I do in the morning, yep, it’s a habit. The daily workout, it’s a habit too. For better or worse, our habits shape our lives. The habits that have held me back the most were habits of the mind. My unruly thought-life prevented me from loving people well, from achieving my personal goals, and from being the best version of me I could. When I discovered that thought patterns were actually habits, I began to form new mental habits.

From self study, from reading, and from observing clients, friends, and family, I have come up with 7 habits that appear to be the most self destructive.

THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY SELF-DESTRUCTIVE PEOPLE:
*Continue reading only if you promise to do so without being hard on yourself… or others.
 

1. Victim mentality 
 
The victim mentality is a habit that keeps us stuck in blame, negativity, and powerlessness. We all do it from time to time, but making a habit of being a victim will hinder you from being your best and taking control of your life.

The victim mentality in the small things:
“I am late because…”
“I couldn’t get the project done because…”
The victim mentality in the big things:
“The relationship failed because he…”
“My parents didn’t provide me with the love/finances/tools I needed to thrive…”
“The education system failed me because…”

Heard those before? I hear them all the time. They make me sad because they are often rooted in truth. Maybe you weren't provided the love you needed as a child. Maybe you are thousands in school debt. Maybe your spouse left you. Those things are tragic and hard and really sad. They deserve to be dealt with in gentleness and grace. Dealing with them is key.

When you are stuck in the victim mentality, the world will constantly be happening to you. You will blame, become bitter, and be unable to grow. Growth requires taking responsibility.
 

2. Judgement
 
The habit of judgement is a normal, human tendency. We need to make subtle judgements to make good decisions. We naturally notice patterns and use them as intuition. The issue with judgement is that it is often a reflection of an ego unchecked. It is a nasty symptom of other issues like insecurity, fear, and the scarcity mentality.

When you catch yourself making a judgement as yourself:
 
Is it rooted in fear?
Is it just plain hateful?

How can you switch your judgement to something more gentle, like noticing?

You can notice others without making a judgement. You can call a spade a spade without letting your thoughts become negative and clouded. Start to notice your thoughts.

3. Gossip
 
Gossip is like disease.

A good example of this comes from an old favorite song. A friend pointed out that this song had an annoying aspect to it, and that they hated the artist because xy&z. I could never listen to the song again without thinking about her negative words. Although the song wasn’t completely ruined, the negative association made it harder for me to authentically enjoy it. And so it is with gossip. Gossip takes your negative thoughts and infects others with them.
 

4. Negative self talk
 
I’m a firm believer that what you think, you become. If your mind is full of thoughts that don’t serve you, your life will be a life that doesn’t serve you. 

Tip** Start tracking your thoughts. Do this with pen and paper, in the notes on your phone, or even just taking mental note. What are you thinking about? What kind of things do you say to yourself?
 

5. Defensiveness
 
Defensiveness is the habit of living in a fear based mindset. It takes the assumption that others are trying to “get” you and that you must protect yourself.

Defensiveness resists vulnerability, and cannot be seen as weak. It does not admit wrongs or like to be wrong. The habit of defensiveness will make you feel the need to protect yourself, your beliefs, and need to be right to be safe. Instead of being safe, however, it often makes you, and the people in relationship with you, feel alone.

Curious, creative living comes from a place of vulnerability. Related to defensiveness, it comes back to the fear of rejection, or the fear of being wrong. Living creatively is risky business. It takes courage and vulnerability, you must be willing to open yourself up to inspiration. 6. Avoiding emotional responses
 
Avoiding self reflection and emotions will only work for so long. I used to be “happy” because dealing with my fear, anger, or frustration made me feel uncomfortable. Today, I know that experiencing my emotions fully and not judging myself for having them is key. I don’t stay “stuck” in the emotion, but I do allow myself to feel and express it.

This habit is self destructive because it will always come back to bite you in the butt. Those suppressed emotions will bubble up or manifest themselves in your body. They will seem gone for a little while, but you will start to see the bitterness, anger, or annoyance when you talk about others. It will be toxic to your spirit and to your relationships. Allow yourself to feel.
 

7. Jealousy
 
We all have dealt with jealousy from time to time. Jealousy is a sense of lack where we see others in abundance. When jealousy goes unnoticed, it turns into a habit.

If you struggle perpetually with being happy for friends or family members when they succeed, you may be jealous.

If you constantly compare yourself, you may be dealing with a jealousy habit.

'Epidemic' of teachers accused of having sex with students

(WXIA) – Two more metro Atlanta teachers have been accused of having sex with students.  So far, only one of the teachers has been arrested. The second arrest could come later, as investigators continue to conduct interviews and analyze possible evidence.

The teacher arrested Monday is at least the 12th teacher in Georgia arrested this school year accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

Four of the suspects were Gwinnett County teachers.  Gwinnett is the state’s largest school district. The 12 teachers arrested are from both urban and rural school districts.

John Seryak, a retired educator who is now with the organization SESAMEnet.org -- Stop Educator Sexual Abuse Misconduct and Exploitation, says schools and police do not release official statistics, but his group's research, nationwide, compiled a list of 459 teachers arrested in the U.S. for sexual misconduct with students in calendar year 2014, and 496 more arrested last year.

Gun-dealing Alabama teacher ran sex-for-grades scheme!

Ann didn't know anything about her freshman history teacher's checkered past – his convictions for domestic violence and illegal gun sales – when she started hearing rumors about his relationships with female students. 

"He kind of liked to dance around the classroom," she said. "My friends told me to have my boyfriend walk me to his class." Ann, who did not use her real name for this story, said the teacher focused on the girls in the class, flirting and joking during school. 

In December 2013, that teacher, 41-year-old Phillip Smith III, turned his attention to 14-year-old Ann, a freshman at Huffman High School in Birmingham. During a test, he pulled her desk close to his and addressed the class.
